(MD6) - Dr. of Medicine

General Objectives

  • Train students to become highly competent physicians and equip them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to respond to the challenges of modern medicine.
  • Produce competent and caring graduates, safe to practise initially as junior doctors, and with the potential to develop fully their careers in their chosen branch of medicine.
  • Encourage students to practise medicine holistically including ethical, legal, psychological and social considerations.

Programme Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the basic, clinical, behavioural & social sciences, ethics and jurisprudence which are relevant to the study of medicine and be able to apply such knowledge in clinical practice e.g. in health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles and practice of public health in both individuals and populations, and acquire the ability to implement appropriate measures, independently and with others in the promotion of health, the prevention of illness and the treatment of disease.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills in basic and clinical sciences, including research and evidence-based medicine needed for decision-making in the practice of medicine.

Accreditation

The MD programme meets, and exceeds, the requirements of the EU Directive on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications (2005/36/EC) enabling graduates to have their award recognised, and be eligible to practise in EU and EEA member states, following graduation.

(DVM) - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Introduction

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programme is designed to offer first-class scientific and clinical training in veterinary medicine. An integrative approach has been adopted to deliver knowledge in a horizontal and vertical manner in order for the students to understand the multifaceted science underpinning veterinary practice and research.

Objectives

  • Provide students with a strong foundation in the basic sciences and many opportunities to apply their knowledge.

  • Train graduates to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to evaluate patients, make diagnoses, treat a wide range of conditions, preserve the quality of life and alleviate pain in the animals under their care.

  • Produce competent and caring graduates with decision-making skills, clinical skills, manual dexterity, and solid communication skills.

  • Encourage critical thinking, research, evidence-based decision making and lifelong learning.

(MD6) - 6-Year Degree in Medicine for High School Leavers

Admission Requirements

1. High School Leaving Certificate

Austrian Matura with a minimum overall of 1.8 and a minimum of one science with 1, plus one more science with 2, plus one more subject with 2. Biology is a mandatory subject.

Or: GCE A’ Levels with grades ABB, to include Biology and one of either Chemistry, Physics or Maths, and one more subject.

Or: International Baccalaureate with 32 overall and a combined score of 16 at Higher Level, to include Biology and at least one of either Chemistry, Physics or Maths.

Candidates are reviewed holistically, so all grades will be reviewed including in Chemistry, Physics and Maths to ensure your knowledge and achievement in these areas meets the demands of our curriculum.

The Medical School may also consider applicants from other education systems. For any other qualifications please contact us so we can assess your eligibility.

Candidates who hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to Medicine can be considered for admission to the first year of the course.

2. English Language Requirements:

6.5 overall in the IELTS (with 6.5 in writing and a minimum of 6.0 in all other elements),

Or: 79 in TOEFL iBT

Or: grade 5 in the GCSE (or B with the old grading system),

Or: a score of 5 in English in the International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL),

Or: a score of 8 in English in the European Baccalaureate.

Students from the UK, USA, Canada (from English speaking provinces), Australia and New Zealand are exempt from this requirement as long as they have graduated from an English speaking high school.

(DVM) - 5-Year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) for High School Leavers

Doctor Veterinary Medicine (DVM) - 5 Year Undergraduate Entry Degree

1. High School Leaving Certificate

Kosten

(MD6) 6-Year Degree in Medicine for High School Leaver

Tuition Fee

Annual tuition is €18,000 for the first 3 years and €22,000 for the final 3 years. Living costs depend on your lifestyle. Students doing their clinical training at our international partner institutions pay an additional supplement during the last two years of the programme, depending on the location.

Scholarship

Our Medical School has established a scholarship fund that is designed to assist students in partially funding their studies. Scholarships will be awarded based on demonstrated financial need and can cover up to 20% of tuition costs per year. 

 

(DVM) 5-Year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) for High School Leavers

Tuition Fee

Annual tuition is €20,000 for the 5 years of study. Living costs depend on your lifestyle. On average, staying in Nicosia for the whole year will cost a minimum of €12,000.

Scholarship

All students applying for entry in Fall 2023, will be awarded a 20% scholarship for the duration of their studies and may apply for a further 10% financial need-based scholarship to cover up to 30% of tuition costs per year.
